Bugatti
Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.
Belongs to the Volkswagen Group.
The headquarters is located in Molsheim, Alsace, France.
Bugatti was founded by Ettore Bugatti in 1909 and has long been a family business.
The main activity of the company has always been the production of high-performance luxury sports cars. Thanks to the original approach of Ettore Bugatti and his son Jean to body design, Bugatti cars produced in the 1920s and 30s had a great influence on the car fashion of that time. The sporting successes of the company, numbering in thousands of victories in various races, also played a significant role here.
So, in its first race, small cars Bugatti Type 10 took the first four places, and the Bugatti Type 35 of 1924 became one of the most titled sports cars – more than 2 thousand victories were won on it. In the Targa Florio, Bugatti held first place for five years, from 1925-1929. The company’s last major racing success, remembered by many, was the victory of Pierre Veyron and Jean-Pierre Wimille in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1939, when they had only one car and a minimum amount of resources at their disposal.
In 1995, due to the financial difficulties experienced by the company at that time, Bugatti declared itself bankrupt, but already in 1998, Volkswagen AG decided to revive the legendary brand and redeems all rights to the trademark. In 2001, a decision was made to mass-produce the Veyron 16.4 sports coupe, and in the fall of 2004, after the reconstruction of the plant, the production of cars began with an annual output of about 80 copies.
