Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce Limited was founded in 1906 by Henry Royce, a successful engineer, and Charles Stuart Rolls, owner of one of the first car dealerships, as a result of their partnership that began in 1904. The company specialized in the production of aircraft engines and passenger cars, but during the First World War, the company also produced armored vehicles.

In 1971, after bankruptcy, Rolls-Royce Limited was nationalized, and in 1973 the automotive division was spun off into an independent company, Rolls-Royce Motors, which, in turn, was sold to BMW AG in 1998, where it received its current name. Interestingly, two German auto giants, Volkswagen and BMW, fought for the acquisition of the company. However, as a result of the negotiations, VW received the rights to the Bentley trademark, which has been part of Rolls-Royce since 1931, and a plant in Crewe, Cheshire, where from 1998 to 2003 VW produced old models of Rolls-Royce cars using engines and components. bmw. The Rolls-Royce brand name was taken over by BMW, and the delay until 2003 allowed BMW to build its own factory in Goodwood and develop the all-new Rolls-Royce Phantom.

All Rolls-Royce cars are still made by hand. At the Goodwood plant, only the body painting operations are automated, with 12 coats being applied. Each car passes two thousand kilometers on the test site. After that, the machine is disassembled and each node is checked. The final assembly of the car takes place according to the specific specification of the customer.

In Russia, the interests of the brand are represented by two official dealers: Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Moscow and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars AVILON, which represent three families of Rolls-Royce models on the market: Phantom, Ghost and Wraith.
